Founded in 1993, the Aleph Guitar Quartet's virtuosity enables the exploration of new musical spaces. In Graz, works by leading composers demonstrate the tonal and formal richness of a classical guitar ensemble. Two world premieres and two Austrian premieres await the audience. Tristan Murail, one of France's leading composers, dedicates a new work to the guitar quartet. Also to be heard for the first time is a new piece by Anna Korsun from Ukraine, who lives in Germany.

The music of Swedish composer Lisa Streich combines humour and profound emotions. Her piece is called Lupines, just like the invasive plant species in her home country, which emanates a dangerous beauty. Bernhard Lang pushes the boundaries of classical scores with a work from his GAME series. The form is created in the game: the musicians choose from shuffled sets of cards and follow a set of rules. Self-organisation is the goal and means of these strategies.
