The French sound artist and composer Eve Aboulkheir lives in Paris. In her compositions, installations and performances, she explores the creation of immersive environments and multi-sensory experiences. By combining electro-acoustic manipulations with field recordings and synthesised sounds, she creates ever-changing, ambiguous acousmatic landscapes.
She describes her new piece Venus Road as follows: "When we enter the forests of Singapore, we are immediately immersed in the sounds that make them up, although the sounds of the city remain omnipresent. Sometimes I could hear the wildlife synchronising with the rhythm of the buildings. This hybrid mix led to interferences where the living automated itself in response to the mechanics of the surrounding machines. ,Venus Road‘ is the name of an avenue in the forest of Mac Richie Reservoir in Singapore, where I got lost one night with a friend. In the darkness, the sounds of the forest intensified and we were overwhelmed. We could visualise everything and this frightening experience took on a fantastic dimension. The piece Venus Road develops around the memory of these two experiences and their reveries. The field recordings and the synthesised sounds evolve together, refining, imitating and parasitising each other during this phantasmagorical journey."
