In 2013, musikprotokoll presented its online art project Personal Soundscapes for the first time as part of an ORF Kunstradio. The fascination of everyday sounds as compositional material accompanies us also in this festival edition.
Personal Soundscapes: Let's play Graz!
On this evening, young people will be out and about in the city, delivering their acoustic objets trouvés via smartphones directly to the foyer of the List Halle. There, artist Volkmar Klien, who worked on the project with the students, will create an imaginary urban sound architecture in real time from the incoming personal soundscapes, an acoustic snapshot of a young city.
Personal Soundscapes: Let's play Styria!

...feeding the future. This year's musikprotokoll motto perhaps fits no project better than this one. We are pleased that the Konfrontationen, a school project that has been active in Styria for years, are guests at musikprotokoll. At the Konfrontationen, students come into contact with artists, get to know each other and each other's work, develop new ideas together at eye and ear level, and create short, intensive performances. In the weeks and months leading up to the musikprotokoll, the acoustic life worlds, the sounding everyday life, the personal soundscapes of the young people were the artistic material and motto of the confrontations. And at musikprotokoll, the young artists confront the audience with their personal soundscapes and what they make of them artistically: Future is Today.
