Volha Hapeyeva (*1982, Minsk) is a poet, author and translator and holds a PhD in linguistics. She has made a name for herself both as an author of children’s books and as a playwright. Her poems have been translated into more than ten languages. She collaborates with artists from the electronic music scene to create audio-visual performances and is a frequent guest at international festivals. She has received numerous prizes and awards for her work. In Germany, she was awarded the scholarship by the Stiftung Preußische Seehandlung (2009) and was guest author at the Literary Colloquium Berlin (2018), among others. In Austria, she was artist in residence at the International Writers’ House in Graz in 2013 and artist in residence in Vienna (KulturKontakt/Ministry of Education) in 2014. Volha Hapeyeva is the 2019/20 recipient of the writer in residence scholarship “Grazer StadtschreiberIn”.
