As currently in recent years, Kunstradio and the musikprotokoll in Graz once again have a collaboration in 2004. Graz based media artist Richard Kriesche layed out a new project especially for this occasion, dealing with the motto of this year's festival "Übertragung - transfer/ence". On site, the live performance which Kriesche realizes together with Seppo Gründler is also a multi-channel, spacial sound and video installation.
The on air-version is an arrangement of different sounds, interrupted and structured by means of live studio talks.
The conceptional idea on which this piece is based on is the decoding of the bio-genetic code and knowledge along with this, and conclusions drawn with regards to art and its function of decoding the (exterior) world as well as art's practices.
The relation between the physical reality of Richard Kriesche - as a figure within the context of space and time - on the one hand, and the informational reality of Richard Kriesche - the being defined as genetic information saved on and formed as a chip - on the other is the basis for "richard kriesche : richard kriesche“. Only communication between this uttermost representation and the inmost manifestation creates the actual reality of Richard Kriesche.
Informationally, Richard Kriesche is present in form of a chip (Artchip) containing his bio-genetic information. All sounds are generated from this data; a basic sound - one enduring the whole length of the programme - is disrupted and structured by other, temporally coded sounds.
Physically perceptible, the artist is present at the studio, participating in studio talks with his collegue Seppo Gründler and the curator Christian Scheib; conversations which are also woven into the piece.
The transference of data in form of solely self-generating sounds finally typifies the key to this new reality.
