The improbability of love, the inexplicable closeness that is articulated in August Stramm’s love poems is taken up by Georg Friedrich Haas as micro-tonal, virtuoso music for voices and viola: a rush of vowels and vocals, slow-motion transformations of timbre and, at the same time, expressive gesture. The will o’ the wisp beauty of a dense mesh of voices is combined with the thematic linguistic determination of vocal music tradition.
