No Business for Dogs

05/10
generalmusikdirektion
Bernhard Breuer (AT), Steven Hess (CA), Juun (AT) & Alfred Reiter (AT)

The two drummers Steven Hess and Bernhard Breuer, who performed with Stefan Németh the day before, are also the dynamic backbone of the “No Business for Dogs” formation. They are joined on stage by sound engineer Alfred Reiter and pianist Juun; although pianist may create the wrong impression. For Juun, who is also a member of the London Improvisers Orchestra, has a liaison dangereuse with her instrument – considering that she plays mostly on pianinos which she has cut up with a chainsaw and angle grinder, along with their entrails. With metal frame, strings and sound-board. “Pianoguts” is what Juun calls these piano skeletons. Such instruments allow her to produce sounds with sometimes pleasurable brutality without worrying about damage. Eventually her “Pianoguts” fall apart, when Juun simply dismembers another piano.

In co-operation with Ö1, the composition by Katharina Klement is the first “Emil Breisach musikprotokoll composition commission”.  musikprotokoll Einzelkarte ensemble recherche + Klangwege: 18 € / red. 12 € includes all concerts from ensemble recherche and the Klangwege project.
