The notion of time as linear is an illusion that can be dispelled. The idea of spatiality as rooted in a fixed location is also doubtful. Certain is that the audiovisual work Karvan Sara 4050 by Arash Azadi proves any thought of a clear relationship between space and time to be deceptive. Azadi is a young Iranian composer and interdisciplinary artist who lives in the Armenian capital of Yerevan. In Karvan Sara 4050 the historical caravansaries — the places where the traders from East and West met along the Silk Road — become a metaphor for the Caucasus region as a junction of cultures. In terms of time, his artistic imagination transports him into the year 4050, whereby a few thousand years turn into the blink of an eye and the other way around.
