Hèctor Parra

*1976, Barcelona (ES), studied at the Conservatory of Music in Barcelona, where he graduated with honours in composition, piano and harmony. He studied piano with Mª Jesús Crespo, and composition with David Padros, Brian Ferneyhough, Jonathan Harvey, and Michael Jarrell (at the Geneva Conservatory); composition studies at the University of Paris VIII, courses at Ircam and at the CNSMD Lyon. Winner of the Ernst von Siemens Composition Prize (2011), the “Tendencies Prize” of the Spanish newspaper “El Mundo” (2009), and the Earplay Donald Aird Memorial International Composition Prize of San Franciscco (2007). He is professor of electroacoustic composition at the Saragossa Conservatory and guest professor at the Barcelona Liceu Conservatory. Since 2002 he has been living in Paris where he is composer in research at Ircam.
