Javier Quislant was born in Bilbao in 1984 and studied composition with Agustí Charles and Luis Naón at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona, graduating with honours. He’s currently studying with Beat Furrer at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz. His music focuses on the processes of musical creation, the concepts of order, temporality and relationships, and the study of the nature of musical materials. His compositions have been performed at the Darmstadt International Summer Course for New Music 2012, the 2012 World Saxophone Congress XVI (St. Andrews, Scotland), Festival Mixtur (Barcelona), Quincena Musical de San Sebastián (2012/13), and the 2013 International Festival Domaine Forget (by the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne).
