Yulan Yu

Yulan Yu (*1990 in Jiangmen, China) is a composer, musician, and concert organizer based in Graz. She studied contemporary classical composition with Klaus Lang at the Kunstuniversität Graz. In recent years she has focused on intermedia work, creating various multimedia new music theatres, intermedia performances, and participative music theatres for children. One element she consistently incorporates into her work is harmony, possibly influenced by her childhood and teenage years singing in a children's choir. By combining sentimental harmonies with subtle noises and sounds inspired by nature, she explores beauty, playfulness, mystery, and juxtaposition in music.
