Arturo Corrales

Arturo Corrales is a composer, conductor, guitarist and architect. Born in El Salvador in 1973, he studied in San Salvador, Paris, Lugano and Geneva where he co-founded the Vortex Ensemble and currently teaches composition and music analysis at the CPMDT Conservatoire in Geneva. He has participated as a composer, teacher and conductor in numerous international festivals. Despite the experimental character of his music, his work is influenced by folklore and ethnic elements, as for instance in canon fractal por aumentación sobre una melodía popular (2013). Constantly attentive to the formal coherence of his works, to the control of their projection in space and time, he wants to facilitate the expression and perception of what he calls “human scale music”.
