Alyssa Marie Aska is a composer, researcher and teacher, who lives and works in Graz. She composes music for acoustic and electro-acoustic ensembles and is especially interested in works that combine acoustic and electro-acoustic aesthetics in a way that makes sense to her. As a composer and performer Aska has worked with various laptop orchestras, exploring the translation of gesture into sound. She studied music technology and composition at the University of Oregon and composition at the University of British Columbia and she has a PhD from the University of Calgary. Alyssa Aska currently studies computer music and composition for music theatre at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
