On the occasion of the concert evening to mark the 30th anniversary of Hermann Markus Preßl's death, Wendelin Pressl will arrange objects belonging to his father in the Minorite Cultural Centre as part of the project ‘The Holy Nothing’.
H.M. Preßl not only built his own musical instruments or performance machines, but also notated his compositions on objects, some of which were found. Bones, plastic rubbish, or everyday objects thus became music carriers, resulting in his own series of works entitled ‘Objects’. Or to be more precise: around 50 objects to look at, touch, smell, hear, ..., grasp, play, sing, eat, feel, ..., drink, ..., rot, conduct, ..., and destroy, .....
Wendelin Pressl (*1971 in Graz) lives and works as a freelance artist in Vienna. He studied at the Master School of Painting in Graz and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His career includes numerous study visits and residencies in cities such as Rome, Budapest, Petömihályfa (Hungary), Judenburg, Tirana, and Brussels. Pressl has been honored with several awards, including the Art Promotion Prize of the City of Graz, a State Scholarship for Fine Arts, and the Promotion Prize of the Province of Styria for Contemporary Fine Arts. He has taken part in numerous exhibitions and various projects in public spaces.
