For ORF musikprotokoll, Laikka, the duo consisting of Mo Wunderwald and Alex Gruehn, and electronic musician David Obermaier, aka silentbeat, collaborated for the first time to create a performance for people with a wide range of hearing abilities that fundamentally expanded the concept of music. "Zwischen den Wellen" (Between the Waves) is the title of the joint work, which incorporates not only high and low frequencies, but also video, light, and visual vernacular. Laikka and Obermaier met in April 2024 during a guest performance by sub_bar in Vienna, a movement of artists and researchers who are committed to a paradigm shift from sound to vibration in music production and music education, uniting deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing people. 

This year's musikprotokoll also featured "Hands Up" – a small traveling exhibition that gave visitors to the Helmut List Hall the opportunity to get a feel for how deaf and hard-of-hearing people perceive music before and between concerts.
