ICAS Radio aus Toulouse mit Les Siestes Électroniques.

During this year’s edition of Les Siestes Électroniques one of the two yearly Shape Meetings took place. Susanna Niedermayr and Oliver Baurhenn used this opportunity to produce another edition of ICAS Radio together with our french partner-festival. In Ö1 Zeit-Ton on the 13th of July you will meet the founder Samuel Aubert and also Jeanne-Sophie Fort and Frédéric Portet. Fort and Portet will give an insight in the vibrant musical life of Toulouse. In Ö1 Zeit-Ton extended on the 16th of July Niedermayr and Baurhenn will together with Aubert travel to Paris where there is since 2011 also a yearly edition of Les Siestes Électroniques, - in cooperation with the Musée du quai Branly for non-European art, which opens its rich audio collection to selected artists, who are then invited to weave the faraway sounds into their music.

To understand festivals not only as stage for contemporary forms of music, but also as a lively platform for discourse is a central concern of all of the festival organisers who have teamed up for the ICAS network of International Cities of Advanced Sound. The network was co-founded by ORF musikprotokoll im steirischen herbst. ICAS Radio is the round table of ICAS, through which the festival organisers and their contemporaries regularly meet to discuss the cutting edge of the contemporary music and its culture.
