Born in Izmir (Turkey) in 1977, Zeynep Gedizlioğlu studied music theory in Saarbrücken and composition in Istanbul, Saarbrücken, Strasbourg and Karlsruhe. She received a scholarship from the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation in 2010, won the Ernst von Siemens Composer’s Prize in 2012 and worked at IRCAM in Paris. Since 2012 she has been living in Berlin. Her compositions have been presented at international festivals and broadcast throughout Europe. Numerous ensembles and soloists of renowned orchestras have premiered her works, including Ensemble Modern, ensemble recherche and Arditti Quartet. This year’s first performance of her new composition will be presented by the Radio Symphony Orchestra and Klangforum Wien.
