Winfried Ritsch (*1964 in Tyrol) is a professor of computer music at the Institute of Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM) in Graz. He studied electrical engineering and received numerous art awards, including the Composition Grant from the City of Graz and the Andrzej Dobrowolski Composition Prize from the State of Styria. Ritsch is known for his experimental computer music and media art performances with robot ensembles like the "ensemble mécanique." His works have been exhibited worldwide, including at the Kunsthaus Graz and the Fernand Léger Museum in France. He also develops robotic musical instruments and cybernetic models for generative music as open-source projects.
