Walter Seebacher was born in Innsbruck. He studied clarinet with Walter Kefer in Innsbruck and Alois Brandhofer at the Mozarteum Salzburg and also studied musicology. Concert tours with the ensemble Die Knödel took him through Europe, to Russia, the USA, Canada, Japan, and Mexico from 1992–1999. In addition to composing for film, he played clarinet with the Tyrolean Symphonic Orchestra Innsbruck from 1994 to 1998. Besides his preoccupation with historical clarinets (Wiener Akademie, Salzburger Barockorchester, among others), he has also performed with the Wiener Taschenoper, Vienna Chamber Orchestra, Camerata Salzburg, Accademia D´Archi Bolzano, Klangforum Wien, and many more. Walter Seebacher has been a member of PHACE since 2009.
