
Ui-Kyung Lee (*1984 in Seoul) is a composer and sound artist. He studied composition in South Korea, Japan and Stuttgart with Martin Schüttler. His works have been performed internationally, including at the Samsung Leeum Museum, Rainydays (Luxembourg), the Biennale Aktueller Musik (Bremen), KONTAKTE'22 (Berlin) and the Stuttgart State Opera. He has worked with ensembles such as Nadar, uBu, SWR-Vokalensemble and Pony Says. In 2024 he was musical director of the production FUNDBÜRO (JOiN Stuttgart). Lee combines sound, movement and space with socio-political issues. He uses site-specific, participatory and multimedia strategies. He has been collaborating with Julian Siffert as Perspektivenbox since 2016. In 2024 he received the Johann Joseph Fux Opera Prize.
