Susanna Gartmayer

Susanna Gartmayer studied painting and printmaking and has been working as a bass clarinetist and composer in various fields of experimental music since the early 2000s. She is a member and founder of numerous ensembles for improvised and organized music. Her particular interest lies in the polyphonic sound possibilities of low clarinets, open compositional forms, multi-idiomatic improvisation, as well as the theory and practice of collaborative work processes. Since 2015, together with Thomas Berghammer and Didi Kern, she has been organizing the Monday Improvisers Session, a meeting point for improvisers from Vienna and around the world.
