Stepha Schweiger

Stepha Schweiger is an avant-garde composer, pianist, keyboard player and singer-songwriter of experimental music and lives in Berlin. In the 1980s she was active in new wave, later in new music. Her work ranges from minimal to experimental to industrial to free jazz to song. Besides other elements, Stepha Schweiger’s compositional approach is inspired by spectral music. In 2017 her 100-minute music-theatre piece The Mark on the Wall, based on the eponymous story by Virginia Woolf from the year 1917, was premiered in London und Berlin. Schweiger writes texts on composition, language, and everyday life and analyses works in respect to time structures.
