As a pianist Stefan Wirth specialises in contemporary music and is a member of Collegium Novum Zurich and Ensemble Contrechamps (Geneva). He studied composition in the US with Michael Gandolfi and P.Q. Phan, among others. He has worked with Heinz Holliger, for instance as a soloist with the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, and is a member of the Gershwin Piano Quartet, which has performed at major festivals. Besides that, Stefan Wirth has also collaborated as a pianist, composer and arranger on various music theatre productions with such directors as Christoph Marthaler and Frank Castorf.
