Soyeon Park is a composer based in Graz. She studied composition at Ewha Womans University in South Korea (BA) and completed her master’s degree at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz under Clemens Gadenstätter. She also studied jazz composition and arrangement with Ed Partyka. Her music is characterised by great vitality, a subtle, playful and at times ironic approach to material, and a continuous process of self-questioning. With a keen curiosity for forms of sound design, she develops an independent, cross-genre artistic language. Her works combine technical precision with expressiveness, reflect observations of everyday life and often integrate acoustic and visual elements. She has received, among others, the City of Graz Promotion Prize (2020), the Andrzej Dobrowolski Scholarship (2022), the Ö1 Talent Exchange Prize (2022) and state scholarships (2023, 2026).
