Rudolf Jungwirth

Rudolf Jungwirth was born in Linz, Upper Austria, in 1955 and studied organ and composition in Vienna. He teaches organ, harpsichord, organ improvisation, historical performance practice and theory at the Anton Bruckner University in Linz and regularly performs as an organist and harpsichordist. His compositions are characterised by clusters that alternate with noise elements and pointedly placed stretches of silence, resulting in meditative or explosive listening experiences. Works include pieces for orchestra and chamber ensembles as well as vocal and instrumental music. He has received numerous awards and prizes and his compositions are performed all over the world.
