rotkäppchen

Since 2019, Alisa Kobzar and Lisa McGuire have been developing interactive multimedia compositions under the name ‘rotkäppchen’. Their work focuses on non-verbal forms of communication and a rule-based system that defines connections between body, sound and image, enabling flexible control processes within the performance. Alisa Kobzar creates interactive sound and visual environments to which Lisa McGuire responds improvisationally, thereby shifting traditional roles between composition and interpretation. The interaction is organised bidirectionally: through co-following, the dancer influences sound and visuals through movement and perception of the projections, to which the music and visuals in turn respond. The duo works with a model of human-to-human interaction, supplemented by computer-based processes, without human-computer interaction dominating the artistic core. In addition, machine learning methods are used to define movement spaces and analyse performative states.
