The saxophonist, clarinettist, composer and illustrator Renald Deppe was born in Bochum in 1955 and teaches at the University for Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, and the Anton Bruckner University, Linz. He is the founder and the artistic director of several festivals and cultural initiatives. Parallel to his work as organiser, curator and concept designer of non-mainstream music projects, Deppe has made himself a name as a composer of several commissioned pieces. His compositional work focuses on chamber music, music theatre, interdisciplinary project design, installations and sound graphics. As a musician Deppe has performed at several international festivals (Saalfelden, Berlin, Moscow, Krakow, Budapest, Rome, St. Petersburg, etc.) and his graphic sheet music has been displayed repeatedly in galleries.
