Reinhard Schulz

(1950–2009), studied musicology in Munich, worked as a free-lance music journalist and critic before he became editor-in-chief of the Neue Musikzeitung (NMZ) in 1986. Co-founder of MGNM (Munich Society for New Music). From 2000 till his death, he was one of three directors of the Festival Klangspuren in Schwaz (Tyrol). He was awarded the Prize for Criticism of the City of Graz in 1993. In 2010 the Reinhard Schulz Prize for Contemporary Music Journalism was created in commemoration of his commitment to contemporary music.
