Rebecca Saunders

* 1976, London (GB), she studied composition with Nigel Osborne in Edinburgh and with Wolfgang Rihm in Karlsruhe. She has received various composition prizes, including the ARD und BMW musica viva Prize, the Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Award, and the GEMA Music Prize for Instrumental Music 2010. In 2009 she became a member of the Berlin Academy of the Arts, and was the composer-in-residence with the Staatskapelle Dresden for the 2009/2010 season. She was a tutor at the Darmstadt Summer Courses, at impuls in Graz, and at the Ostrava Music Days.
