Piotr Majdak studied electrical engineering and audio engineering at the Graz University of Technology and the University of Music and Performing Arts. Since 2002, he has been working at the Acoustics Research Institute (ARI) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). He earned his Ph.D. in psychoacoustics and signal processing and is habilitated in the field of "acoustics and audio technology." His research focuses on spatial hearing and auditory modeling. Together with his colleagues, he has published over 50 articles in scientific journals.
