Oxana Omelchuk

Born in Belarus, Oxana Omelchuk completed her master’s degree in composition with Prof. Johannes Fritsch and studies in electronic composition with Prof. Michael Beil. Alongside premieres at various festivals she received commissions from the German Music Council, WDR, Arts Foundation NRW, ON – New Music Cologne, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Festival ACHT BRÜCKEN and SWR. In addition to collaboration with numerous ensembles, including Klangforum Wien, Ensemble Garage (Cologne), Ensemble hand werk (Cologne), Ensemble mosaik (Berlin), SWR Vokalensemble Stuttgart, Theater Triebwerk (Hamburg), her work has been broadcast on the radio on several occasions and a portrait of her was published in the journal Zeitschrift für Neue Musik (2004). As a musician Oxana Omelchuk plays in various formations, for instance with Constantin Herzog (analogue synthesizer and double bass), Florian Zwißler (electric organs and analogue synthesizer), and the Simon Rummel Ensemble. She is the recipient of various awards and scholarships, most recently she was nominated for the German Music Author Awards 2019 in the category “ensemble with electronics”. She lives and works in Cologne.
