Otto Iivari is a Finnish electroacoustic composer and a doctoral candidate at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre. His artistic practice centers on acousmatic and electroacoustic music for multichannel and ambisonic systems. His work explores the expressive potential of organic sound materials, with a particular focus on spatiality and the movement of sound. A key area of his research is the relationship between human movement and the perception of sound movement. He investigates how their interplay can be used as a means of artistic expression. Iivari has received several international awards, including the Student 3D Audio Competition, the Sonosfera Ambisonic Competition, the CIME Competition, and the Prix Russolo. His compositions have been presented in concerts and festivals worldwide. He is currently conducting artistic research under the supervision of Nikos Stavropoulos and Helena Tulve.
