Nicole Lizée

Nicole Lizée is an award-winning composer and filmmaker. Lizée is called “a brilliant musical scientist” (CBC) as well as “breathtakingly inventive” (Sydney Times Herald). She explores themes of glitch, turntablism, rave culture, urbex, film theory, psychedelia, experimental fashion, and thrash metal to create a new kind of expression. Her commission list of over 60 works includes the Kronos Quartet, BBC Proms, New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Bang On A Can, Colin Currie, l’Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Ligeti Quartet, Donaueschingen Festival and Sō Percussion. Nicole’s works are regularly performed worldwide to international acclaim. Recent awards include the Music Critics Association of North America Award for Best New Opera, the Dora Mavor Moore Award for Outstanding New Opera and the Prix Opus for Composer of the Year.
