Milica Djordjević

Milica Djordjević (*1984, Belgrade) studied composition and electronic music first in her hometown at the University of Arts and then with Ivan Fedele at the Strasbourg Conservatory. After a residency at IRCAM in Paris she continued her studies in 2011 with Hanspeter Kyburz at the Hanns Eisler School of Music in Berlin. Her already extensive oeuvre, performed by leading soloists and orchestras, includes pieces for solo instruments, chamber music works in various instrumentations, vocal pieces and compositions for large orchestras. Natural sciences, literature and art play an important role in her work. She was awarded the Claudio Abbado Composition Prize by the Karajan Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic in, the Composer Prize by the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, and the Belmont Prize for contemporary music, among others. Her first monographic CD won the German Record Critics’ Award.
