Katharina Klement was born in Graz and has lived in Vienna since the late 1980s. She is active as a composer-performer in the field of composed and improvised, electronic and instrumental music. Her work includes numerous cross-connecting projects within the fields of music, text and video. She is particularly interested in the piano as an instrument and in extended playing techniques for it. She is founder and member of several ensembles for improvised music. She is considered one of the most clearly contoured voices in new music and has performed at international concerts and performances. She has also worked with various ensembles such as ensemble recherche, Klangforum Wien, PHACE, Schallfeld, Lizard, airborne extended and numerous artists.
