Katharina Klement, born in Graz in 1963, has lived in Vienna since the late 1980s. She works internationally as a composer-performer and sound artist. She has a particular interest in electroacoustic music and the piano, employing extended playing techniques. Her body of work includes numerous interdisciplinary projects spanning the fields of music, text and video. She is the founder and a member of several ensembles for improvised music. She has received commissions and collaborated with various ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, ensemble recherche, PHACE, Schallfeld, Lizard, Studio DAN, Duo Novalis and airborne extended. Her works have been released on numerous recordings.
