Jörn Arnecke

Jörn Arnecke, born in Hameln in 1973, won one of Germany’s most prestigious composition prizes when he was only thirty, the Hindemith Prize of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. His music theatre works, commissioned by the Ruhrtriennale (Unter Eis [Under Ice]) and the Hamburg State Opera (Butterfly Blues, Das Fest im Meer [The Festival in the Sea]), have received much acclaim. His works have been performed at the Munich Biennial and the Frankfurt, Munich, Zürich and Prague opera houses. 2001–2009 he was part-time professor of music theory at the Hamburg University of Music and Theatre. His compositions are published by the Sikorski Music Publishing Group.
