Johanna Vargas is one of the most sought-after sopranos for contemporary music today. She has already participated in countless world premieres of leading contemporary composers. Due to her universal education, the Colombian-born coloratura soprano knows how to use her voice in an all-embracing way. Through her broad repertoire of musical genres and styles, from bel canto to Latin jazz, pop and improvisation, Vargas combines this rich background with a deep understanding of drama and choreography in her performances.  Since 2019, she has been a high soprano with the Neue Vocalsolisten Stuttgart and regularly performs at internationally renowned festivals. Since 2018 she teaches contemporary vocal music and performance at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe.
