Reader in cultural studies at the University of East London. Writer, researcher and activist. He has written widely on music, politics and cultural theory and is editor of the journal new formations. Author of the books Anticapitalism and Culture (Berg 2008) and (with Ewan Pearson) Discographies: Dance Music, Culture and the Politics of Sound (Routledge 1999). A founder member of Lucky Cloud Sound System, he DJs regularly at the East London warehouse party, Beauty and the Beat.
