Gerriet K. Sharma

Gerriet Krishna Sharma is a composer and sound artist. At the centre of his work is an exploration of space as a political, social, and sensory category. His artistic practice investigates the politics of hearing and listening, asking how power relations, historical narratives, and social structures shape our perception of sound and space.  Using technologies such as 3D-audio, beamforming loudspeakers, and sound-sculpting projectors, Sharma develops spatial sound compositions that open up alternative modes of listening and experience. He understands sound not only as a temporal but also as a spatial medium. His works explore the relationship between space, body, and perception, seeking open and multifaceted listening experiences beyond established representational and perceptual conventions. Underlying this practice is an ongoing enquiry into the relationship between time, space, and body in an increasingly virtual present.
