Georg Nussbaumer

Georg Nussbaumer was born in Linz in 1964 and lives in Vienna. Nussbaumer often works with musical instruments which he develops into installations, using a variety of organic and inorganic materials as easily as machines, video or live animals. The scores of his mostly large-format works determine processes manifested acoustically, visually, sometimes haptically or olfactorily as a sculptural event. The 2006 steirischer herbst kicked off with his “Gravitational field with air impressions”, a composition of thousands of objects raining down from the ceiling in a wind sculpture. Most recently, he collaborated with the soloist company Kaleidoskop on “Milchstrom, Fragebett, Gralsmaschinen - ein Lohengrin-Gelände” (2013) and the sixteen-hour Wagner project “Ringlandschaft mit Bierstrom” (2013), among others.
