Born in Vancouver, Canada, in 1957, he studied jazz drumming at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz, and also studied abroad in Africa and Bali. He builds and develops instruments and sound objects (for SUONO), collects rhythm instruments from all over the world and plays these as well as the didgeridoo in many groups ranging from ethno music to free improvisation. Since 1985 he has taught workshops for children and adults (rhythm and instrument-building classes). He has collaborated on numerous CDs, from Vico Torriani to Joe Zawinul.
