Franz Pomassl is the founder and head of the research laboratory Sound Studio and the scientific-creative interdiscipline “Sound” at the Institute for Fine Arts at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, where he teaches in the field of “art and sound”. He studied with Arnulf Rainer at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts, with Dieter Kaufmann and Tamas Ungvary at the University of Music & Performing Arts, and at the Tokyo Zokei University. In 2011 he received his postgraduate degree from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in Fine Art/Art and Sound. He is a founding member of the research consortium ISSA (International Society for Sonic Arts), which focuses on advanced contemporary sonic art, and he runs the label Laton.
