Francesco Casanova

Francesco Casanova was born in Bologna (Italy) and lives in Graz (Austria). Casanova works in the fields of music, visual media and software development. His/her research encompasses sound design, human-computer interaction, multi-channel technologies and interactive installations. He has a particular interest in the design and construction of electroacoustic devices, cross-platform software controllers and tools, as well as sound generation using a variety of means – from programming languages to welding equipment. He/she is a co-founder of CMKK, an autonomous, student-run community for computer music and sound art at the Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics (IEM), as well as of BitNet01, a collective that combines visual arts and electronic music and organises festivals as spaces for radical experimentation. His/her work has been presented at SMC2025, Elevate 2025, Fusion 2025, SMC2021, NYCEMF 2021 and the Cica Museum.
