Ernst Christian Rinner, born in Eisenerz (Austria) in 1961, is a teacher and composer. He studied composition with Iván Eröd and Hermann Markus Preßl, harmony with Andrzej Dobrowolski and German philology and musicology in Graz. He works as a grammar school teacher, a lecturer at the Graz Music University and for the composers’ society for avant-garde music “die andere saite”. Rinner describes his compositional work as a “juxtaposition of meditative pattern constructions, actionism, ‘playful’ dodecaphony”. In 1985 he received the Music Promotion Award of the City of Graz.
