Elisabeth van Treeck studied musicology in Graz and Bern, as well as theatre studies in Bochum. From 2014 to 2023, she worked as a research associate at Ruhr University Bochum, where she helped shape the music theatre focus at the Institute of Theatre Studies. She completed her PhD in 2021 at the University of Bayreuth with a dissertation on Olga Neuwirth’s Lost Highway, for which she was awarded the Hermann Abert Prize of the Society for Music Research in 2023. Since 2024, she has been working as a Senior Scientist at the Center for Gender Studies and Diversity at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. Her research interests include contemporary opera, media, and threshold phenomena in current music theatre.
