Clemens Nachtmann, born in Bavaria in 1965, studied political science, music theory and composition with Wilhelm Killmayer, Friedrich Goldmann, Gösta Neuwirth, Hartmut Fladt and Beat Furrer. He has taught at the Music University Graz since 2005, and from 2010 to 2015 was the head of the Styrian section of the ISCM Austria. He has received several grants and awards, including the Boris Blacher Award, the Gustav Mahler Composition Prize of the City of Klagenfurt and a grant from the Ernst von Siemens Music Foundation, and has often appeared at music festivals in Austria and abroad, for instance Unerhörte Musik, MaerzMusik, and musikprotokoll. Moreover, he has given numerous lectures and has written and published on socio-theoretical, political, cultural and musical issues.
