The hornist Christoph Walder has performed a wide range of styles of chamber music. Born in Toblach (South Tyrol) in 1967, Walder studied at the Mozarteum with Hansjörg Angerer and at the Vienna University of Music with Roland Berge. He became a member of Klangforum Wien in 1993. His specialization in the instrumental techniques of contemporary music, which have been Walder’s main field of expertise for the past 20 years, has paved the way for world premiere performances of numerous works, such as Gonzales – The Eartheater by Jorge Lopez, sonic eclipse by Matthias Pintscher or Perturbazione in arrivo nel settore trombe for horn and orchestra by Salvatore Sciarrino. As co-founder of the experimental trio “nee” Walder experiments with transcending stylistic boundaries and expanding his instrument’s application with digital and analogue electronics. Christoph Walder teaches at the University of Music in Graz and Vienna.
