Christof Dienz was born in Tirol. He studied bassoon in Vienna with Prof. Milan Turkovic and had an engagement in the state opera house for three years. Since 2000 he lives as a freelance musician and composer in Vienna. He was commissioned to compose a piece for zither solo and so he came in contact with the zither, to explore the instrument and all its sound possibilities are still a big passion of Christof Dienz. Recently he had a revival with his ensemble Die Knödel, which was touring all over the world in the nineties. His music was played by ensembles like Klangforum Vienna, Ensemble Phace, RSO Vienna, Brucknerorchester Linz, Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck and many more at festivals like Wien Modern, Klangspuren Schwaz, Transart Bolzano, Jazzfestival Saalfelden, Midem Cannes and many more.
