chor pro musica

chor pro musica graz was founded in 1979. In 1985 Gerd Kenda took over as musical director. Due to the size of the ensemble its musical emphasis is on 19th and 20th century vocal literature. However, both on its own initiative and through invitations by other event organisers chor pro musica graz also expands its repertoire to include works for choir and orchestra from other epochs. In conjunction with Graz Cultural Capital of Europe 2003 the choir performed the world premiere of Arvo Pärt's work In Principio to great acclaim. Since 2004 the choir has been a frequent guest performer at the styriarte Festival and Easter Festival PSALM. From 1989 to 1999 chor pro musica graz organised the internationally renowned season subscription cycle ORFEO – A Series of Vocal Events. Concerts in the USA and numerous European venues as well as successful participation in European competitions round off the choir’s regional concert activity.
