Anke Eckardt, born in Dresden in 1976, lives in Vienna. She works as professor of Fine Arts at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. In addition to exploring the fragile intersections between collective and individual identity and imagination, the artist’s work examines power structures and the politics of materiality in the context of new technologies. In installations and sculptures exhibited internationally, she combines sound with light, video, analogue material, kinetics, text and new media. Often conceived as walk-in environments, her works allow the audience to immerse themselves in shifting sensory spaces that challenge perception and engage psychological and phenomenological processes.
